I went to the end of my block
To retrieve my cuckoo clock
It had heard I was killing time
And thought that this was out of line
It trembled as I drew near
as if from me it had to fear!
I calmed it down as best I could
Patting gently its fine wood
"You have caused me such a fright!
Killing Time is just not right!"
I convinced it not to run away
And we went home to work and play.
This event helped my hopes to bolster
that I could do likewise for my toaster
I'm sure other, better poets have gone down this path before, but the thought crept into my head and I went with it. Nothing else was coming...
