A Girl and a Grouch - Images

Two more old school images as I psyche myself for tomorrow's Grand Adventure.

This might be, might be I tell you, B-ko from Project A-ko. Or it could be another girl with purple hair. Let the Fate's decide.

I would like to tell you that my side perspective has improved since this picture, but then I would be a LIAR. Still, whatever defects this profile has, I still think it's a pretty good job.

But not as good as this one! Oscar the Grouch! My hero and role model!

Well, maybe not.

The image did not spring Athena-like from my brow. That would have hurt. Instead, I had another image act as a model. Both this one and the one above are untouched by Paint Shop Pro, thus giving a small degree of how well I'm doing. Bear in mind that I don't know how old the first one is. Oscar is, at the very least, three years old

The Army - A Single Panel Comic

I'm going to be honest here. While I'm half finished with the next essay in my series, I'm not feeling it. This up coming road trip's got me on edge something fierce.

So instead, I plague you with Old School Cullen images, such as this one.

The green dude is called "The Little Guy", the tear shaped troopers "Wee Beasties." Beyond that, your guess is as good as mine.

What sort of person is the Little Guy? A cut-rate Doctor Doom? Or a collector of some sort?

A word on the army itself: It's just one picture, cut and pasted several times. I know, I know, it's obvious, but I didn't want to look like I was trying to pull something over on anyone.

Kind of cute, don't you think?

Val Guest

Five days ago, Val Guest died. He was the director of such notable films as The Quatermass Xperiment and The Abomidable Snowman (surely one of the few good Yeti movies.)

His works didn't have much impact on me a child, (unlike, say Roy Ward Baker), but as an adult I found the science fiction movies he directed to be most excellent. He had a talent for the craft that, while not as flashy or as deep as some, still rang true.

Hell Yeah! Do it! Do it!

I seem to be making up for time not yet lost with three posts today. And maybe more: who knows?

Whatever the day may or may not bring is not the point of this thread. While surfing, I caught sight of this article from beaucoupKevin[dot]com. While the whole article is rather droll, I especially liked the penultimate sentence:
Then I would kick Green Arrow in the throat.
My instant response was... well, the title of this post.

I have no idea what Green Arrow ever did to me to deserve this reaction. Maybe it's some deep, deep repressed memory. Maybe he stole a Tangy Taffy from me, or gave a political rant I couldn't crawl away from. Maybe it's that damn yellow arrow car of his.

Whatever the case, I seem to want grievous physical harm to befall him.

Interesting.

Wonder if I would feel the same way about a blatant knock-off of Spider-man as I do a blatant knock off of Batman?

Short Thoughts on the New Cyberman

Here we have the new Cyberman, appearing in tonight's "Doctor Who" in Britian. I wasn't sure about the redesign at first, but it's been growing on me. Now I think it's damn perfect. Only thing that worries me is the voice.

One other thing: I might bust a gut reading the first "Borg rip-off" comments. 'Cause they're coming... I can feel it...

The included image comes from "Doctor Who" and is © by the BBC if no one else
It is in no way the work of Cullen M. M. Waters

Site Update: Four Days

Four days from now this blog will fall silent. Least I think it's four days...

Anyway, some time next week, I'm going to stop posting and won't be back for maybe four days. This isn't the usual Cullen inertia. Rather, I'm taking a small trip... into madness.

Brother Eric is coming home for the summer and, on whim we've decided to drive down and pick him up. We being my Mother, Brother Todd, and myself

This involves 20+ hours worth of driving almost non-stop down to Prescott AZ, a day to recoup, and another 20+ back. Three drivers one way, four the way back. Lots of scenery the four of us haven't seen. Or, in some cases, haven't seen in a while/won't see cause it'll be night.

We did something similar a couple three years back. Over to California and back. More stops, and more drivers. That was fun (except for a brief showing of bad temper on my part; that wasn't fun). Hopefully this, too, will be fun.

It'll be that or absolute madness. One of the two.

Point being, I will not be here. I plan to be back. I plan to finish my little series, too. I think there are two more posts left in it: a bit more history and then where my head was when this whole thing started. Depends on how long it goes; I hadn't thought it would last this long.

I'll give a head's up when I depart and when I get back, and maybe a post on the trip, assuming something of note happens.

Pause

Small pause. I know where I'm going with this series, more or less. Just not how far or how deep. I'm also stuck giving more exposition, which is terrible, but we all have to deal with Info Dumps both big and small.

I hope that someone other than myself is enjoying this essay series. If not, I don't think it'll be more than another two or three pieces.

Assuming it does finish. Ho ho ho.

Also, I might put up a essay on a different subject tomorrow and/or Friday.

Be good.
