"Speed Racer" was one of my favorites back in the 60's when we had a sudden influx of Japanese anime for kids ("8th Man", "Gigantor" and the, at least to me, wimpy "Kimba, The White Lion"). I was just starting elementary school, at the time, so cartoons were the ultimate in my TV viewing pleasure. That and B-movie horror flicks. The Japanese productions beat the hell of American fare such as "Milton the Monster". Eventually it came down to "Johnny Quest" or "Magilla Gorilla"? (no contest) That was back when cartoons were actaully shown in prime time on the major networks. Now, it's "cartoons on demand" with cable and satelite. Takes some of the simple fun out of Saturday mornings for the current generation of younger viewers, I would imagine. Never mind. Just rambling.
