Site Report - Future Predictions

Well that's a bummer.

I suspected I would miss a day. I didn't think it would happen due to computer miscues. Yesterday, fully prepared to post, I tried to log in only to be thwarted. I couldn't even get on to the sign in page.

Was it my computer's fault? An error on this site's part? A problem with the internet connection? Martian mind probes? Who knows? Who cares?

Oh well. It's not that it's vital I post every day. I'm not getting paid less, nor will I lose my job over it. I've only been trying to post at least once a day every day in a week in the hopes of making it a habit. So far so good

I was doing this for two purposes. The first wass to improve my writing skills. The more you do something the better at it you become. I hope that my spelling and grammar is also boosted as I go back through these posts and edit my little gaffs.

The second was simply to set and meet deadlines. A way for me to get used to the idea. After all, when I finally "go pro", as it were, there are going to be deadlines and consequences for missing deadlines. Best to work out any problems I have now while it doesn't matter as much.

Having said that, I plan to take weekends off in May, starting the first week of May .

Sounds like a bit of a contradiction, doesn't it?

I'm not talking about a literal Cullen goofs off type day off. Instead, I plan on working on content for this site. Partially to create a bit of a buffer in case I have to skip a day, but mainly to ease some of the "Gotta Get A Post Up!" Hopefully a more relaxed attitude might improve the quality of my posts. And, as I'm not working with current events just yet, I think I can get away with it.

Taking the weekends off should last only through May, though I might do it again or extend it if I need to. If something occurs to me on those weekends, I'll post; I just won't feel obligated to post on those days.

Ultimately I'd like to set a certain schedule of articles, reviews, and (God willing) fiction and be able to stick to it. Perhaps having a bit of a buffer will be one step towards that goal.

(And perhaps not.)

In the near future, I remind you, I intend further discussion on my views on writing, (types of genre, the pros and cons of Outlining, the use of "How To" books, that sort of thing), authors I have read and who've inspired me, more capsule reviews covering the Godzilla series, and a little essay dealing with the writer Damon Knight.

Tomorrow, however, I hope to have a little picture and poem up for the enjoyment of all. And yes, I realize that makes 3 poems over the zero pieces of fiction I've put up. That's gotta change, too. (The particular picture I'm thinking of using sort of inspires other thoughts... It'll be nice seeing it again. Sort of.)

Be seeing you then. Assuming, of course, this modern technology doesn't bite me again.

(Keeps up, I might become a Luddite...)

About halfway through this entry, I was like "COME ON with the ORDER!" because for a second I thought I was reading O'Reilly's journal.
